Clem Chambers has spent a lifetime breaking barriers, from pioneering the gaming industry to championing cryptocurrency and Web3 innovations. Now based in the sun-soaked hills of Monaco, Chambers credits his success to an unrelenting work ethic, a creative mind, and one golden rule: “Never watch TV.”
An Unconventional Path to Greatness
Chambers’ journey to success is anything but traditional. Mild dyslexia barred him from university, despite earning the grades to study industrial archaeology. Undeterred, he charted his own path by founding one of the UK’s earliest computer game companies—a bold move in an industry that was still finding its feet. 
The early years were gruelling. “It was ten years of hell,” he recalls, navigating a collapsing industry with limited funding. Yet, his passion and perseverance prevailed, fostering a team of young talent who would later become industry trailblazers. Chambers’ London warehouse—once a former sweet factory—became legendary in gaming lore, though it saw its share of sacrifices, including packing boxes on Christmas Day.
The Bitcoin Revelation
Chambers’ affinity for technology led him to explore Bitcoin in its infancy. Initially skeptical, his aha moment came in 2015 when he discovered Silk Road, the infamous online marketplace. While his visit was purely exploratory, the technological possibilities of blockchain technology left him awestruck.
“It was like opening Pandora’s box,” Chambers admits. By 2016, he fully embraced the crypto revolution, recognizing its potential to disrupt traditional financial systems and empower individuals.
As founder of Online Blockchain, Chambers has helped propel innovative projects like Umbria Network, a platform enabling seamless asset transfers between blockchains. These ventures underline his knack for identifying disruptive opportunities and staying ahead of the curve.
Chambers’ advocacy extends beyond technology. A pet peeve of his is the lack of accountability for online scams, which he argues are more rampant and damaging than street crime. “If you were mugged three times on your high street, there’d be outrage. Online, it happens daily, and no one bats an eye,” he laments.
Rocky Horror and NFT Evolution
Chambers’ creative flair shines through his latest endeavor: commemorating the 50th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Show with NFTs. His connection to the cult classic dates back to the 1980s when he developed its computer game adaptation.
“The Rocky Horror Show was lightyears ahead of its time,” he enthuses. “It championed LGBTQ+ themes before there was even an acronym for it.” For Chambers, NFTs are more than digital art—they are keys to unlocking new experiences in the growing metaverse.
The Metaverse and Society’s Shift
A veteran of early Massive Multiplayer Online Games, Chambers views today’s metaverse as both an escape for the disenfranchised and a sign of societal evolution. “As digital economies grow, the real world shrinks. It’s a dynamic shift,” he explains. However, this shift comes with challenges, as governments and traditional systems struggle to adapt.
Disruption as a Force for Good
Chambers’ philosophy is rooted in empowerment, particularly through financial inclusion. He criticizes societal structures that block ordinary people from wealth creation, calling them “passive crimes.” Education and truth-telling, he believes, are the antidotes to systemic inequality and digital manipulation.
“Influencers lie. Scammers lie. Be a Columbo—double-check everything,” he advises, emphasizing critical thinking in an era of misinformation.
When asked about his epitaph, Chambers sidesteps with characteristic wit, quoting financier Charlie Munger: “All I want to know is where I’m going to die, so I never go there.”
